Few Guide Lines for Great Websites

Guidelines for Content writing:

  1. Chunk text content - no long paragraphs & Use simple words – Less is more.
  2. Write in an active voice.
  3. Write for the reader.
  4. Deliver a clear and concise message.
  5. Write call to action statements - prompt the user to take action.
  6. Create 250-500 word pages and leave good amount of white space
  7. Focus on benefits, not features.
  8. Draw attention to important points.
    • use bulleted or special characters lists to grab the readers attention
    • bold fonts, and italics etc.
  1. Avoid repetition
  2. The first words in a paragraph should get people to stop skimming and start reading.
  3. The last words in a paragraph should build momentum and curiosity so the visitor keeps reading.
  4. Keep subject, verbs and objects near to each other.
  5. Adding relevant hyperlinks in text.

  2. Compliance with common HTML specifications ( Link - www.w3.org)
  3. Small byte-wise graphics
  4. Provide textual alternatives for image and follow SEO naming conventions for Images.

  6. Use red color for any kind of call for action buttons.
